What do the British Heart Foundation, Stroke Association, Mind, Cancer Research and the premature baby unit at the Leeds General Infirmary all have in common?
From a personal point of view, I know, or have known people near and dear to me who needed help from each of these fantastic charities. I’m sure most people will have some reason to support at least two or three of them. The other connecting factor is these are the five charities supported by the Rambling Badgers, and we will be arranging a sponsored walk to raise money for the above charities. This year we have decided to break from the usual routes and offer something many people will have tried in small doses, but few will have done on this scale. I am proud to announce that the 2013 Rambling Badgers sponsored walk will be along the Leeds/Liverpool canal. In order for us to make this event a success we need walkers, and lots of them. Put simply, we need your help!
We are planning to create four challenges:
Challenging: 15 miles from Bingley 5 rise locks to Leeds
Difficult:26 miles from Kildwick to Leeds
Extreme: 30 miles from Skipton to Leeds
Insane: 34 miles from Gargrave to Leeds
Can you give up one day of your life to help improve the lives of thousands of others? Would you be willing to ask your friends to sponsor you to help us raise money for these worthwhile causes?
In 2009 we raised £2947 and in 2011 we managed £2343. This time I would love to smash the £3000 barrier.
So there you have it, the challenge is on. Are you free on Saturday 8th June? Can you help us help others? If you can, please email us at theramblingbadgers@gmail.com and tell us which challenge you fancy taking on and we can send you all the relevant details (sponsor forms, schedules etc)
If you can’t make the walk but would kindly donate then please visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ramblingbadgers
Please note that the closing date for entries is Saturday 1st June
Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read this.
