Read All About It!

As our Trailtrekker build up began to take shape, we received a phone call from the Yorkshire Post asking us if we would be interested in allowing themto  do a feature on us. Unfortunately it wasn’t that they had heard all about the exploits of the Rambling Badgers, it was because they help promote the Oxfam fundraiser by doing a few small articles on teams within their catchment area. Not ones to turn down the opportunity of a little publicity, we jumped at the chance to see our names in print and at the same time used it to help us raise more money. Read the rest of this entry »

Bulls Head- Castleton

Sat at the end of the Hope valley, in the shadow of Mam Tor, Castleton appeared to offer us plenty of choice for our post-ramble beverage. After a delightful mornings rambling up and around the iconic ‘shivering mountain’, we decided on the Bulls Head, the deciding factor obviously being it was the nearest (we do like walking though, honest!)

The place was busy enough as we walked in, but then Castleton as a whole, is that sort of place, as there are always going to be numerous visitors due to its natural surrounding attractions. The pub is under the breweryship Read the rest of this entry »

The Clarence – Greenfield

After a gentle stroll up and around Hoarstone Edge and Alphin Pike, we set off back towards the M62 from Dovestone Reservoir car park, with the intention of stopping at any pub that took our fancy…so the first pub that came into view it was then.

Sat in the Chew Valley, and less than a mile from Dovestone reservoir, we pulled into the car park to the rear of The Clarence at Greenfield, ideally located on the Holmfirth to Oldham road. The signage outside was very modern, so I expected some sort of swish upmarket gastro pub, however I was pleasantly surprised that inside, the pub had an old style feel to it.
