Walk 27: Beam Me Up

Beamsley Beacon from Bolton Abbey: Today was the final prep walk for our Herriot Way adventure and while I wouldn’t say I was going through the motions, I did have one eye on that longer walk. Last week we had done a thirteen mile walk to make sure we had some distance training and today it was more a case of keeping the legs ticking over before next weekend.

Walk 25: Under The Cosh

Horse Head & Cosh Outside from Halton Gill: It was after midnight when I got to sleep last night so I felt a little tired when the alarm went off at 6.20am, but I was soon up and about and as usual and looking forward to the forthcoming adventure. Today’s excursion was taking in two trig points from Halton Gill, which was used for the last years Jamie Oliver/Sainbury’s Christmas ad apparently.

Walk 24: Moor Haste, Less Speed

Conistone Moor from Kettlewell: I awoke as usual to the sound of Ennio Morricone’s famous “The Good The Bad & The Ugly” music and hit the snooze button. We hadn’t done a Sunday walk in a while and after a couple more taps on the snooze button I had to get up as time was pushing on.

Walk 23: Loafing Around

Rye Loaf Hill from Malham: Never again! Never again am I going out the night before a walk, or at least not until I forget how much difference it made to getting up. I wasn’t rough as such but I didn’t have the spring in my step I usually have when it is time to ramble.
