The Black Bull – Reeth

Our second night was spent in The Black Bull pub and again we were pleased to see our bags had arrived. We were shown to our rooms – after a quick pint outside!

The rooms were clean, but dated, very floral.

The bathroom had been updated, but unfortunately an electric pump drained the toilet and shower, which was noisy and resulted in a nasty drains smell when used. All rooms were en-suite, and the shower in ours was very spacious. The room had a kettle (which had some water in it), and tea and coffee making facilities. There were some toiletries, a hairdryer and a portable TV, but the picture was fuzzy. Again we kept our window open as it was hot in the room, but as we were at the front of the building and only on the first floor we could hear the customers sitting just outside, and had to close our curtains very early so couldn’t enjoy the view.

After a reasonable nights sleep (as you would expect in a pub) we showered and went for breakfast. Again there was a range of cereal, juice, yoghurt and cooked breakfast. The breakfast was again excellent.

We collected our packed lunches (£6 per head). There was a choice of cheese, ham or tuna. We were also given a choice of crisp flavours. The packed lunch also contained a bottle of water, a piece of fruit, and some biscuits (like the ones you normally get in the room) that were all out of date!
