The Crown – Horton-in-Ribblesdale (2nd Visit)

Back to the Crown Inn, following the badgers’ 3 peaks “dry” run. It had been a thoroughly miserable day weather-wise, but we had completed the three peaks nonetheless and the drinks today were hard earned.

And the thing about the Crown Inn, is that you can see it on the horizon for the last stretch of the walk, and as such, you are more than ready to get in there to quench that thirst. After Sir Edmund sank his pint of coke chaser, he passed round the Strongbows and Fosters, and shared out the team Scampi Fries and Bacon Fries, we all kicked back and reminisced over a walk well done.

It must have been my turn to pay, but hey Sir Edmund once more took it upon himself to refresh the troops and who was I to argue.

We blissfully ignored the discomfort of the damp seats, obviously caused by the wet bottoms of previous three-peakers who had been sat there that day, and the elbow-stickiness of the tables, because by now, nothing was going to keep us from enjoying these well deserved drinks.

The Crown is most definitely in the right place at the right time when it comes to walking the Yorkshire three peaks.
