Fox House – Nr Carlecotes

Fox House

After yet another delightful walk, we found ourselves in an unusual, but not totally new situation, of finishing in a village without a pub. No drama though, we simply had a quick chat as to the routes we would all be taking home, checked the map, then set off following my nose to sniff out the nearest hostelry. We soon found the Fox House, which is to be honest, in the middle of nowhere. It looked ok though, and that was confirmed once we set foot through the door. It was pretty quiet and we had our choice of seats all of which were set of for food. The usual variety of drinks was ordered, but they also had a taster trio of real ales. For £3.95 you got three halves of different ales, allowing you to try before you plumped for one. Team nibbles were ordered, which we then upgraded to three bowls of chips, while Roger and Ryan went for full meals, which looked nice. All in all it was a pleasant experience and we would certainly call in again should we be passing, next time though we would sit at the opposite end of the pub to soak up the fabulous views of the Peak District, instead of choosing the seats we did, next to the blokes loos…
