Read All About It!

As our Trailtrekker build up began to take shape, we received a phone call from the Yorkshire Post asking us if we would be interested in allowing themto  do a feature on us. Unfortunately it wasn’t that they had heard all about the exploits of the Rambling Badgers, it was because they help promote the Oxfam fundraiser by doing a few small articles on teams within their catchment area. Not ones to turn down the opportunity of a little publicity, we jumped at the chance to see our names in print and at the same time used it to help us raise more money. Just over a week ago we all did small telephone interviews to where we were asked how we got into walking, why we signed up for the challenge and other questions that didn’t really warrant exciting answers but were more relevant that what is the capital of Burkina Faso?!

Last Sunday we spent half an hour with a photographer as he tried to get one or two half decent shots they could use to make us look like proper ramblers. He obviously felt he had done enough as he wished us well for the future and headed off to cover the Leeds Carnegie match later that day.

We got the nod yesterday that we would be in this Saturday and this morning sales no doubt rocketed as Dave bought 8 copies and the others bought a copy each too. I am sure that the Yorkshire Post will be considering a weekly slot to keep sales high, not! It has to be said the whole thing was an enjoyable experience and if seeing an article about Trailtrekker helped one more team sign up then it has all be worth it.

So there you have it. We are in a paper shop near you today (provided you live in Yorkshire), if not, then maybe Dave may sell you one 🙂

Oh and should anyone be wondering, Ouagadougou is the capital of Burkina Faso.
