The Crown – Horton-in-Ribblesdale

This is the place where everyone congregates once they have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, so being a Saturday, and being July, it was busy. But that’s no bad thing, as having taken in 17 miles during the day ourselves, we were ready for the beers, and thus Sir Edmund ensured we were served post haste.

Although The Crown is always busy inside, they have a wonderful beer garden out the back. There was plenty of food being served and it looked lovely but we made do with Bacon and Scampi Fries.

We had been caught up in some weather at the top of Pen-y-Ghent, but back down in the beer garden, the sun shone through, and we all reflected on a tiring but entirely rewarding days rambling. It was a grand finish to the day and due to the length of the walk, Sir Edmund insisted on treating the troops, so couldn’t possibly comment on bar prices.
