The Racehorses Hotel – Kettlewell (2nd Visit)

Today’s walk was only 2.6 miles long and very easy indeed so we were back to the pub shortly after opening time. There were already a few people inside as we arrived but with the day being a glorious one we elected to sit outside and soak up some sunshine. We had choice of a few tables at the front that overlooked the road running through Kettlewell, but we decided that the tables out back would be much better.

The River Wharfe was running slightly below us as we sat down with our drinks and looked at the food menu. I had already checked they took debit cards which was essential as I had very little cash on me and didn’t want to order only to find out I couldn’t pay. The menu looked nice and after much deliberation I opted for the Belly Pork with Black Pudding Mash and Vegetables.

I was delighted with my choice as it was delicious and everyone else’s food looked equally as nice. The setting was lovely even allowing for the huge shipping container or something that was almost next to us. I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful and the prices were average for the Dales. I would recommend the Racehorses as somewhere to call to eat/drink to anyone passing this way as it has that country feel to it and the plus points far outweigh the very few bad ones.
