Simon’s Meet the Badgers “Q and A”

What nicknames have you had throughout your life? –
Started with Beaky (or Beaks) at high school and its never changed

Who would play you in a film of your life? –
Daniel Craig wouldn’t do a bad job

Who would you really like to meet? –
I like the company of people who make me laugh, but no one person in particular springs to mind

If you were taking someone walking for the first time where would you go? –
Loving the Lake District and the Peak District, but I’m a Yorkshireman so it would have to be the Dales. Lets start em with Pen-y-Ghent eh?

What’s your favourite activities other than walking? –
Football mad

Sum yourself up in five words –
Funny, articulate, intelligent, attractive and modest

Who or what really annoys you? –
Where shall we start?? Probably bad (or no) manners

Favourite TV programme? –
Mock The Week currently, old stuff would have to be Only Fools and Horses

Which website do you spend most time on? –

Favourite film? –
Love the Bond films, and the American Pie ones. Impressed with Guy Ritchie stuff too, so I’ll go with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

What was the last film you saw? –
Diamonds are Forever re-run on ITV yesterday afternoon!

And the last book you read? –
Currently reading Jeremy Nicholas autobiography (was stadium announcer at West Ham – a bit random but I love football and autobiographies)

Give us a playlist of your favourite five songs (and artists) –
Love late 80s early 90s indie stuff so I’ll go with
Sackville – Inspiral Carpets
Fools Gold – Stone Roses
Tomorrow – James
and a bit older…
Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division
and a bit newer…
I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor – Arctic Monkeys

What is your biggest walking achievement as a Badger? –
2012 Oxfam Trailtrekker for sheer endurance

What’s your favourite peak? –
I love all of em, but Mam Tor really struck a chord, I guess due to the disused road crumbling away half way up it, not something you see every day! And you get Winnats Pass at the other side of it too

You are forced to have a tattoo, what does it say? –

What would be your specialist subject on Mastermind? –
To quote Leslie Nielsen in Airplane…famous jewish sportsmen. Or Bond films (again, boring I know!)

You’re invited to a fancy dress party, who will you go as? –
Oh lets go as Superman eh?

What football team do you support? –
Leeds United, love em to bits

Any other teams? –
I’ll watch and enjoy any teams that play good attractive football, but I don’t support any of them

Which British Peak would you most like to walk? –
All of them, but Ben Nevis as it is the highest

What’s your favourite pub/restaurant? –
Love the original Akbars in Bradford

Favourite food? –
Indian, Italian, Mexican, depends how the mood takes me. But probably Indian

Favourite drink? –
Chardonnay, sounds a bit ponsy doesn’t it!

What’s the funniest thing you have seen whilst out walking with the Rambling Badgers? –
Every walk has its funny bits. A good fall (without injury of course) always raises a chuckle. Or the girls sliding down Great Whernside on their bums

What are you scared of? –

You can save one prized possession, what is it? –

What’s the worst thing anyone has ever said to you? –
Guilty…nah just kidding…I got away with it. But seriously, nothing springs to mind, if anyone wants to say anything bad to me, they don’t need to be part of my life

What keeps you awake at night? –
Most things as I’m a really bad light sleeper

Tell us something about yourself that only you know? –
I think its unhealthy to keep secrets

Who’d be your four ideal (living) dinner party guests? –
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gordon Strachan, Tony Yeboah and Mel Sterland. All Leeds United legends from my era and all seem to be characters too. Would be some good banter.

Who’d be your four ideal (dead) dinner party guests? –
Only the good die young, so anyone taken from us too early

If you could be marooned with one celebrity, who would it be? –
I reckon Keira Knightley and I could pass the time…

Favourite holiday destination? –
Loved everywhere we’ve been, but we were spoiled rotten last time we went to Mexico, so I’ll pick there

Finally, would you rather be attacked by one horse sized duck, or twelve duck sized horses? –
Duck sized horses!
